This new article explores the innovation in University Continuing Education, concept that has received very limited study in the past. Eva Cendon, Dorothée Schulte and Anita Mörth place UCE at the crossroads of Higher Education and society, operating in an intermediate position between inside and outside of academia. It is also discussed how UCE can bring innovation to society and, simultaneously, become an innovation lab for HE. This piece of work analyses four cases against the innovation matrix. The study reveals that there are different innovation directions, like inside/outside the organisation and its dimensions and direct/indirect effects.
